Fearsome beasts with much in common, Skrtel and the Cloverfield monster are all sinewy limbs and angular jaws. Both burst onto our screens in 2008, stomping around their adopted port cities of Liverpool and New York. Often shaky, Skrtel’s defensive performances have been a topic of hot debate, much like the camerawork that defined the Cloverfield movie.  Indeed, so jittery and inconclusive is the filming that the identity of the monster remains a mystery.
